The Lake One: A Harmony of Design and Nature

Residential House Design Inspired by the Serenity of Chengcing Lake

The Lake One project, located next to Chengcing Lake in Kaohsiung, is a residential house design that stands out for its unique approach to integrating the surrounding landscape into the home. The design team, led by Ding-Rui Tai and Yun-Hsiang Tsao, drew inspiration from the elegant lake view, aiming to make this beautiful scenery a part of the house. The result is a home where the natural atmosphere of the lake freshens up people’s soul, and the interior design becomes a testament to the charm of life itself.

The project's unique properties lie in its creative decoration and perfect circulation that connect the scenery and house smoothly. The design team believes that interior design is not just a house decoration, but a design to make life perfect and show its own charm. The Lake One, therefore, is a residential house that stands out not just for its aesthetic appeal but also for how it enhances the lifestyle of its inhabitants.

The realization of this design involved the use of a whole house water purification system, a child-friendly climbing wall in the children's room, and the strategic use of simple materials to create a magical beauty. The master bedroom enjoys the view of the lakeside, further emphasizing the design's focus on integrating the home with its natural surroundings.

The Lake One project began in August 2017 in Taiwan and was completed in May 2018. The design team faced the challenge of creating the best space scale and function without changing the original house structure. They overcame this by adopting the technique of view borrowing and making a lot of effort on the selection of materials. The result is a stunning connection between nature and house that creates a comfortable and relaxing home for the owner family.

The Lake One project was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This prestigious accolade is rewarded to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
